From October 15-20, 2024, representatives of the Ho Chi Minh City Design Association (VDAS) attended the "International Conference on Design Education Development" at the Academy of Art and Science Research, Tsinghua University - Qingdao, Shandong Province, China.
The roundtable conference included design associations and university systems specializing in design education from 15 countries worldwide, including Vietnam, China, the USA, India, Israel, Turkey, Estonia, Finland, Australia, the UK, South Korea, Canada, Lithuania, Poland, Zimbabwe, and more. The sessions covered pressing issues in the design industry and the challenges facing future design education programs.
Session 1: Roundtable Conference - Summary of the summer semester results from 4 Chinese universities and 4 international design universities: The impact of the results on future design education programs (China, India, etc.).
Session 2: "EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT - Current Challenges in Design Education Programs" featuring 11 design schools (including the UK, Zimbabwe, Turkey, China, South Korea, Australia, and Indonesia).
Session 3: PRACTICE & DISCUSSION - Current Challenges for Designers from Design Associations and Related Industries (including Vietnam, Lithuania, Finland, Turkey, Malaysia, Canada, Poland, Indonesia, and China).
The Ho Chi Minh City Design Association - VDAS presented a paper on the topic: CURRENT CHALLENGES FOR DESIGNERS IN VIETNAM.
This was an excellent opportunity to engage with global design education systems and advance Vietnam’s design education.
